What grooming can—and cannot—address
Grooming can help clean the coat and remove some visible debris or parasites encountered during the service. It cannot guarantee that every flea, tick, egg, or life stage is eliminated, and it does not address fleas or ticks living in bedding, carpet, furniture, outdoor areas, or other pets.
A complete plan may also involve cleaning the home, treating the environment, checking every pet in the household, and following veterinary advice about safe prevention or treatment.
What the grooming service may include
Depending on the pet, coat, symptoms, and confirmed booking, service may include:
- Coat and skin inspection
- Bathing and thorough rinsing
- Brushing and coat cleanup
- Removal of visible loose debris
- Guidance to contact a veterinarian when symptoms are concerning
The products and process must be appropriate for the pet. Never apply a dog-only flea or tick product to a cat, and do not combine products without veterinary guidance.
When a veterinarian should be involved
Contact a veterinarian when your pet is very young, elderly, pregnant, medically fragile, heavily infested, weak, pale at the gums, persistently scratching, losing hair, developing sores, or reacting to a previous product. A firmly attached tick, unusual swelling, illness after a bite, or uncertainty about safe treatment also warrants veterinary advice.
If your pet has already received a flea or tick product, tell the team the product name and when it was used before any grooming begins.
How to prepare for a mobile appointment
Disclose the issue before arrival
Do not wait until the van arrives. Tell the team what you have seen, how long it has been present, and what products or veterinary treatments have already been used.
Confirm whether grooming is appropriate
The team determines whether a normal grooming appointment can proceed or whether veterinary guidance should come first.
Address the wider environment
Follow appropriate veterinary and household-control advice after grooming. Coat cleaning alone cannot resolve an infestation in the home or yard.
